Thoughts on The Devil's Infantry by Satan (2015)

Classic British heavy metal prodigies, Satan, have released a new song titled “The Devil’s Infantry” that will be featured on their upcoming full-length Atom by Atom via Listenable records.

The Devil’s Infantry stimulates the listener’s imagination with the imagery of hellish armies marching from their infernal kingdom to our world. The song begins with a war drum rhythm, followed by a swift melodic riff that walks with the rhythm in lockstep. Like most British heavy metal, a theme of strong heroism is bound to this track like horns on a bull. Satan manages to keep that theme alive 34 years into their existence as a band.

This track doesn’t offer any innovation to Satan’s niche when it comes to composition, but when you find something that works, why change it up? There’s no sense in contaminating a successfully stabled chemical. This listener is ecstatic that Satan is continuing to release more material, and you should be too.

Atom to Atom will be released in October via Listenable records.
